Media RSS in more than 1 zone?

Hello:

Is there any way to use Media RSS in more than 1 zone?

I wouldn't think it wouldn't be that difficult to have at least image only Media RSS in a Image zone, along with Media RSS in the Video Zone, but BA gives an error if you try to add Media RSS to a second zone.

Is there any way around this, or is BrightSign considering adding this in the future?

    Hi,

No. We are planning to implement this feature in the future. I don't have the timeframes currently.

    Hello,

I realize this was only asked a few weeks back, but is there any update on this?

I'm working on a project that displays a grid of images. Each image is a single image pulled from a media RSS feed on a server. At least, that's the intent. Like the user above, I cannot add more than one media RSS feed to different zones. (Each image in my grid is in a separate zone).

Maybe I'm going about it in the wrong way? Is there another way for the BrightSign to locally access an image on a network and then update that image on a regular basis? So, if someone changes it on the server computer, a reboot of the Brightsign updates it on the Brightsign too.

But back to the Media RSS feeds... You can have HTML5 in different zones for the XD Brightsigns..... same with LiveText data on either XD or HD BrightSigns. I would think this is fairly straightforward to implement?

    Thanks-- and Happy New Year.

The ability to run multiple media rss feeds in different zones is in our list of feature requests (request # 18116), but is not implemented yet.

It will be in one of the 3.8 BrightAuthor versions. No timeframe, sorry.

There is a workaround that is in brightauthor 3.8. At least the first release of it. You'll be able to populate media lists with feeds. And, you can put meida lists in different zones. So, this will allow you to have content from multiple feeds in different zones.

Yes, but unfortunately it seems like this workaround requires the content to be loaded prior to publishing?... am I understanding this correctly to mean that it would not pull live data from the MRSS feed, but would only pull the data that exists at the time of 'publishing' ?... in which case, to actually have real-time information from the feeds, I would have to publish constantly?

You publish a project, the unit downloads the contents specified in data feed to SD card. The unit starts playback once all media files from the data feed are downloaded. You set the update interval for data feeds under Presentation Properties - Data Feeds. The unit checks the data feeds based on the update interval. It can be set to every 30 seconds. If the unit sees new content in the feed, it will download it to SD card and play.

Below are the links to sample image and video data feeds. They reside on my dropbox account:
