Setting the time on standalone offline XD230

I have been asked whether it's possible to use a XD230 offline as a standalone that can run a detailed schedule at particular times of the day.

The unit does not have any network access so cannot connect to a time server. Is there anyway the internal clock of the XD230 can be set without connecting it to a time server?

Yes, it's possible. Please refer to this faq:
    http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/314324-How-do-I-set-the-Timezone-using-a-Script-
and download the files for the XD230.

The instructions on how to setup the time and timezone are covered in the readme.txt file. You need to edit the autoplay.bsp file in text editor, copy 3 config files to a blank SD card and power up the player with SD card.

If you don't know which timezone to specify in the autoplay.bsp file, then open BrightAuthor, go to Tools - Setup BrightSign unit. There is a dropdown menu with the list of available timezones.

Important note: when you set the time, leave the time on the screen for at least 4 hours to let the supercap charge. Once charged, it should keep the time as long as the unit isn't without power for more than a week.

Once the time is set, you need to power the unit off, eject SD card, erase SD card, publish your presentation to a blank SD card, insert SD card in the XD230, and power it on.
