I try to playback 4K Images (3840 x 2160) on a 4K1042 Model.
BA 4.0.0.9 tells mit that the image is too large and suggest to resize it to 1920x1080.
What am i doing wrong?

Images and Video are different. Displaying images at higher than 1080p resolution requires support for Full Resolution Graphics.

Current brightauthor won't let you add 4k images, just 4k h.265 content. So, currently, you need to convert your 4k images to h.265 video to add them using brightauthor.
I also have a requirement for this. What is the preferred encoding tool for h.265 content? Or should I say tools that you have used successfully?
So far the the only utility I've come across is ffmpeg using the x265 binaries.
We don't have special recommendations for converters.
You can use Mainconcept. It is the most well known provider with an h.265 encoder.
Or some other free encoders like ffmpeg or handbrake
When do you expect the 4K players to be able to handle 4K JPG, PNG and BMP images?
Hi,
Currently you can use a BA plugin to display 4K images stored on your SD card in a folder called "4Kimages".

Romeo
Validated compliant HDMI cable. Ran Brightsign video test (all modes displayed from 640-4096). When test completes unit comes up in 1920x1080 /60p mode and plays the folder images. I then set the video mode to 3840x2160 /30p and the screen goes black. Samsung recognizes the video (otherwise HDMI signal not present comes up). Pressing the INFO button on the Samsung remote identifies 3840x2160 /30P.
I think I saw a script somewhere that enables you to do a remote screen grab. That might be worthwhile knowing what the unit thinks it's sending out.
4k1142 Boot 5.0.22, Firmware 5.1.37
Samsung Model: UN55HU8550, SW: T-NT14UAKUC-1081.0, SN: 02FU3CYFA01188J
Please clarify...does the same screen work fine with 4k resolution when you play videos. Is it only 4k image playback that's failing? Please send the brightauthor project file you are using, the bpf file.
I´m using an XD233 player for a 1x3 Videowall created with Datapath FX4. I´m using 3 zones, one for each display, and while videos are displayed fine, images are pixelated. Same when I use live texts, they have not the needed definition.
Using another 4K player of another brand, Videos, images and own texts are displayed fine.
Due to that I had to change some systems from BrightSign to these players, and my customers don´t understand why a 4K player can´t work with 4K images... and the plugin is a fudge as you just can use it as standalone, just with one zone....
So maybe you have to announce those players as 4K Video players, but not as 4K digital signage, as digital signage uses especially images and texts.
I used to be really confortable quoting/working with BrightSign, but this issue worries me. Now I´ll have to check sollutions before quoting them, and don´t trust in the documentation.
Maybe a good idea could be the BrightAuthor to generate an HTML with the presentation, so there will be no zones or resolution restrictions...
You can playback 4k images on the 4k player.
If you're using an XT player, then it supports a full resolution option that's used for html mostly. WIth this full resolution option enabled when you create the project, you can drag 4k images into a simple looping playlist.
For players that don't support the full resolution setting or for a project where it's not enabled, ba doesn't currently let you drag 4k images into a simple looping playlist. But, you can add a medialist widge or imagelist widget. Both have a 4k checkbox. With that box checked, you can add 4k images to the imagelist or medialist, and playback your 4k content.
BA will be updated to address this issue where you sometimes can't drag 4k images into a 4k playlist even if the unit supports 4k image playback. But, it's definitely supported.
Is this still the case 5 years later? Neither the LS445 nor HD1045 will let me drag a 4K image into a presentation. I get an error saying the largest supported image dimensions are 2048 x 1080. I'm using BA: Connected v1.27.1
I'm having the same issue in BrightAuthor Connected with brand new LS445 and XD235 units. My presentation is set to output 2160x3840, but it won't let me add any jpegs of this same resolution. Funny how this issue doesn't happen in the old BrightAuthor 4.7 system.
Having this issue as well. This seems crazy.
