Sync without loop

I have 8 different videos on 8 different monitors.

I need to have all in sync with a precise schedule.

E.g. 

Start at 10 am - stop at 10.17

Start at 10.18 - stop at 10.35

Start at 10.36 - stop at 10.53

[and so on and on]

 

I know how to do sync and loop presentations. In fact if I try to sync and loop these 8 videos it works.

But, if I program the above schedule on the master at the first start, say at 10, all the videos start, but at next scheduled start, say at 10.18, only the master re-start and the slaves stop.

Any suggestions?

    Another problem: the schedule should be very precise (without any timeout delay).

    I took a look at the projects, but need some clarification in order to be helpful.

    Please walk us through the desired viewer experience.

    Does the viewer need to see the fondo.jpg image at all?

    Is the video length exactly 18 minutes?

    What is the presentation's schedule? (Example: 8am to 7pm)

    Does the video need to start playing at exactly 10am every morning?

    The viewer doesn't need to see fondo.jpg, it's only a black image for sync.


    All the videos length is exactly 17 minutes.

    Fondo.jpg is a black image for sync.

    In the original project, the videos were of 18 minutes (15 minutes with a black tail of 3 minutes).

    In the installation there is a timer for light: at 10:15am to 10:18, lights go off.  And then again at 10:33am to 10.36, and so on.

    So, at 10am, precisely, all the video have to start. At 10:15am black tail until 10:18.

    At 10:18, all the video have to restart, and so on all day long until 9pm.

    The problem is that using the classic sync method (black jpg -> timeout -> video -> media end -> black jpg), you need at least 6 seconds of timeout in order to send sync. So the videos go out of sync with light timer.

    So, I though that it could be useful to do a schedule, with 17 minutes video (15 minutes with a tail of 2 minutes): 

    10:00 -> 10:17

    10:18 -> 10:35

    10:36 -> 10:53

    and so on.

    BUT, in this way in my project only the master follows the schedule, the slaves stop at the end of the first running.

    Is synchronization with the lighting system an option?
    GPIO or serial port could be used to start video when lights are dimmed...

    What about sync with lighting via network?
    Also, have you activated advanced synchronization in BrightAuthor?

    The problem is only scheduling and sync together.
    If it works, I set the clock and it's done.

    Please see screenshot, for possible solution for scheduling of the master.

    I've only put 3 scheduled events, using the Time/Clock event, for 10am, 10:18, and 10:36, so there would be plenty more of those.

    Managing many Time/Clock events using BrightAuthor graphical user interface, may become a challenge. It should be possible to add more scheduled events, by directly editing the BrightAuthor file with a text editor.

    Would that work for you?

     

     

    For the synchronization issue, you could try and activate Enhanced Sync in Presentation Properties. See screenshot below.

    It seems interesting. In the above post Brightsign support suggest to activate "all devices in the local subnet". What do you think?

    Scheduling your events like that should work.
    You'll have to make sure that it still works, even if the player is turned on after 10am.

    Notice that BrightSign specify use of h264 mov for synced playback.
    I never had an issue with simply sending UDP message from master to all slaves.
    With that said, I never did sync for a long video such as yours.
    Do your players have access to time server so the all automatically set their clock?
    I wonder whether you need to sync them at all...
    Each one could start at same schedule.
    That would be interesting to try.
