BrightSign Setup - Remote Snapshot Required Field

Bug:

Upon standalone player setup, the time period for the Remote Snapshot is required, even though we are not using remote snapshot.

We have BrightAuthor 4.4.0.15 and are attempting a BrightSign setup using Tools > Setup BrightSign Unit

The settings we have are simple and it's for a stand alone player.  We are currently not logged in to any BSN account.   Steps to reproduce:

  1. Click on Tools > Setup BrightSign Unit
  2. A dialog box pops up with "Not signed in to BrightSign Network" message.  Click OK.   (this is a standalone player)
  3. Fill in particulars in:  Name, Desc, we have a custom splash screen PNG
  4. Enable DWS, disable local web server and update notifications
  5. Enable standalone radio button
  6. Logging has only diagnostic logging checked
  7. Remote snapshot NOT enabled (grayed out)
  8. Screen color black
  9. Click on Create Setup Files button
  10. What happens next is a red box with four exclamation points around the "remote snapshot every ____ minutes" input box
  11. We cannot go any further and cannot create any setup files

Please advise....

Thank you!

    Monica,

Sounds like BrightAuthor has BrightSign Network enabled.

You could try and work around the issue by disabling BSN in BrightAuthor.

Menu: Edit -> Preferences -> Networking -> uncheck "Enable BrightSign Network"

Hopefully that will let you move forward with the process.

I'm having this same issue with the same version of BrightAuthor. I did try disabling the Brightsign Network option with no effect.

Is there a script file that I can manually edit, or any other way that I can get the IP addresses set for the XD1032 units that I'm configuring?

Udi - we setup a lot of BrightSigns both on BSN and standalone so disabling wasn't an option.

We worked through this issue with support with the following working resolution:

    1) Do a setup enabling Remote Snapshot.  You may need a BSN network account to configure this.

    2) In the Remote Snapshot, ensure that there are values in the open text boxes, even if you're not using them.

    3) Create your bogus setup files.

    4) Exit BrightAuthor.

    5) The values should save in the BA configuration files and the next time you do a standalone setup the remote snapshot values should be grayed out, put present.

This worked for us and I was able to create the standalone setup files for our devices as long as there were grayed out values within the remote snapshot area.    I would assume that this is a validation script that just needs a little tweaking in the BrightAuthor app development or to have default values filled in upon setup launch.  (both a BrightSign software development issue)

    Hope that helps!

    Kindest Regards,
    Monica
