I've reviewed posts and have tried a number of combinations to arrive a smooth ticker scroll. We have approximately 30 XT1143 displays in service with a playlist of still images or full screen video playout at 1920x1080x29.97p screen resolution.
We've run the ticker display with and without transparency enabled. Video is either H264 or H265 encoded.
The XT plays out correctly displays supporting HD or 4K without issue.
The Ticker speed on the zone is set to 400%
When the ticker is enabled it stutters/jerks. Where I take the presentation to 3840x2160x29.97p (for 4K displays) and eliminate transparency on the ticker the feed is smooth. If I turn on transparency for the ticker I begin to see stuttering albeit less noticeable. I can't upgrade all displays to 4K and don't like to use tickers w/o transparency. This appears to be a performance issue and/or choice of the silicon for graphics.
I can understand where bg video is used or if video is not at the same frame rate but don't expect this behavior with static images.
The ticker is a combination of a Twitter feed and local RSS feed.
Is this still a known issue with performance or is there something else we can do to eliminate the stuttering text?
