We have a series of BrightSign players that run about 10hrs a day. The client would like to turn them off/on whenever they'd like. Is it possible to do this from the BrightSign web page? Or will they turn back on by themselves the next day?

Allen H. Porter We never "turn off" our players. We do sometimes send the video to black or send serial commands to commercial screens to put them in standby. Also we send BrightControl commands (CEC) via the HDMI cable to do the same. Short of building a Presentation to run on the player, I don't see how to turn off the output via the WebUI or BrightAuthor...or the player web page.
You could build a presentation with a user variable that would get set to on or off via the BrightSign iPad app and have the presentation read that variable and turn off the output or put the display in standby.

We are using the HD223, no Serial or WebUI.

Is that only possible through the HDMI cable? Interesting, but this is to control the BrightSign player not the display?

Correct. I shouldn't I looked at this before asking.

Hmm, this seems to be your most promising answer. I see it is also iPhone ready which would be neat but might be a network cluster of an ask.
The displays in question are Samsung commercial screens. Next time I'll spend the extra bucks and get the serial port. Maybe a GPIO to Serial cable?
Will BrightAuthor let me publish to the BrightSign player without a Presentation? Or just adjust the Presentation schedule to only run 1 minute might solve what I'm after.
Thanks for your help Allen.
