Forgotten Password

Hello All,

I have a BrightSign HD222. We had it installed by a professional about 4 years ago. However we can't get a hold of the installer to get the password for the settings screen. We are running BrightAuthor 4.3.0.16. I looked high and low and there is no forgot password button or a way to reset it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can get the password reset for this? I've looked into resetting the device ( https://brightsign.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218065977-Performing-a-factory-reset) but that would wipe all the settings and data out. And I can't perform a backup without the login info. Any help or suggestions would be a big help. If we do resort as a last ditch effort to resetting the device back to factory what is the default user name and password as well?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why can't you perform the backup without the login info? You have to remove the SD Card and replace it with one that has the reset script on it and reboot the player to run the reset script.... Simply copy the files off the SD card while you have it removed and that is your backup.

Also, there are no real settings to modify assuming you are accessing the Diagnostic Web Server and definitely none on the Local Web Server. Which settings page are you referring to?

Perhaps you should clarify your request a little so someone can answer it a little better.

As Shaun stated, in most cases, what is on the SD card is separate from the settings stored on the player.

Power the player off, remove the SD card, make a backup of the content of the files (which you should have anyway as a good idea).

Take a new separate SD card. In BrightAuthor do a Tools>Setup BrightSign Unit - setting your timezone, IP address, username/password for Diagnostic Web Server/Local Web Server, etc. Save this off to the new SD card, boot player with new SD card, it should reconfigure with all the new settings. Then when it is done doing that, you should be able to put the old SD card back in and it should be back to what you had, and now you have remote access as well.

Thank you guys for your help!! Okay, Prior to rebooting the system I'm going to go into the Tools > Setup area and copy all that info down. Then if I reboot the brightsign with the USB flash drive/software will I need a Default username and password when I get into the Tools > Setup area? And once the reboot back to factory is complete and I reinstall the old memory card the slide show will continue like normal or will I need to recreate that part?
