Purple Hue on LG Displays

I have XT1143 players that have started showing a purple hue to the screen after being on for more than 8 hours. Power cycling the display doesn't solve it, and the display's menu isn't affected. When I republish a presentation, or power cycle the player things go back to ok for a few hours, then back to purple.

Tried 7.1.65 firmware, as well as downgrading back to 6.x firmware as well.

What else should I look for?

LG 55LV35A, 55SE3B and 49SE3B displays FYI

I am willing to bet you are using LG displays.

We rolled back to version 6.2.147 and this stopped.  By the way, a temporary fix is to leave the display and player powered on and just remove then reinsert the HDMI cable.  Clears it every time.

So you saw this similar issue? Which displays were you using? Did it start happening after an upgrade to 7.1?

"So you saw this similar issue? Which displays were you using? Did it start happening after an upgrade to 7.1?"

Yes we saw the same issue...only with some LG models..not all.

We use so many different LG models and it does not happen on most of them so it is hard to pin it to a particular model.  We received no complaints about this on Samsung, Dynascan, or NEC displays.

This started after we upgraded to 7.1.65.  When we went back to 6.2.147 the problem ceased completely.  For most of our customers, we are still on 7.1.65.  We just rolled back those with issues.  For the most part, 7.1.65 is fine.

I have an unreleased firmware build I'd like to get feedback on to see if it improves the issue. Please send an email to the support address.

rolled back to 6.1.147, still had the issue re-appear.. going to site again to try a newer player (XT244 instead of XT1143)

    Wish me luck.

I have a newer build to test on the purple/green issue. It's version 7.1.95. Send an email to support, and I'll forward the link for the player you have.

We have never seen this issue on 6.2.147 and we have a very large number of players running that version.

I understand that it wasn't reported on older firmware. I believe first report was on 7.0 or earlier 7.1 builds.  7.1.95 or later will go final in a couple weeks and will be posted. I have one report since yesterday of 71.95 fixing a purple issue, on an LS423.

We upgraded an XD1033 and a 4k1042 to 7.1.95 and we no longer see purple/green tinted screens.  These players were exhibiting the issue at least once per day and now we have not seen the issue in 48 hours.

Was the fix in FW 7.1.95 in regards to a purple hue over the content or a complete purple screen? And has the latest 8.0.33 OS still have this fix in it?

Yes, the latest 8.0.33 should have the same fix that was in 7.1.95.  It  was usually the whole screen that looked purple, but you could see the content behind it.

Hmmm.... a different issue then we have got. A complete purple screen without content behind it on start up of the screens with the new 8.0.33 OS on XD234 players with LG screens. if power cycle the player, content starts playing, until the next time the screens turn off and on. But FW 7.1.95 doesn't seem to have the same issue. I will start a support ticket.
