MRSS issue with multiple zones

I have reported this to BrightSign, and have been trying to find out more information, but have not been able to really track down the issue.

I have many clients now that are getting Media RSS feeds from me that have a multiple zone setup (1 Video or Images zone, and 1 or more Images zone).  The MRSS feeds in any one zone will stop updating, but feeds in the other zones will continue to update fine.

This is a somewhat rare situation, where people have multiple zones with MRSS feeds in each of them. But I wanted to put this out there for others that may have seen this issue.

Sometimes the player logs will show a short network/internet interruption (less than 1 minute) that is associated with a feed that has stopped updating.  But other times I have gone through the logs when a feed in a zone stops updating, and there is nothing in the log files, it just stops trying to access the feed URL with no associated errors.) And if it is a internet interruption, the players should keep trying to access (the internet goes down all the time in general, especially for short periods of time), but for some reason the players just stop trying after only a few tries.

All the feeds that I have tested are image only (no video files in them). Feeds in the same XML format seem to work fine on a single Video and Images zone.

BrightSign has verified that the MRSS Feed format is a valid working format.

Storage preferences have been turned on, so the players SD cards are not filling up, and it has been verified that when this happens there is plenty of empty space available on the SD Cards.

This seems to be happening on multiple player models and different Firmware and BrightAuthor versions. Unfortunately it is time consuming to try and test all the possible combinations, but I have personally seen this on many different variations. I don't have the time to keep testing, and have had to switch some clients over to HTML5 version of the content, just so they can have working content.

I can only suspect that it is some form of a bug, involving MRSS and multiple zones.

Looking at the server logs show the same thing, the XML accesses from the player just stop for one zone, but continue fine for other zones. In a 3 zone setup, sometimes both Images Zones will stop at different times, but the main Video and Images zone continues to work fine. Sometimes the main zone stops.

I'll post more information if I can add to this, but at this point I have gone about as far as I can with trying to track down on my side with the logs files on the players and information I have available. Hopefully the BrightSign programmers can track down some possibilities based on the information presented.

    This may be far fetched... but check the time on some of the devices that are not updating, and then confirm that your MRSS server time is set correctly (either by your local timezone, or GMT).
