XD1033 should control a corio TV One Switch via USB

Hello,

 

I try to control two Corio TV One 1T-C2-750 with my XD1033 Player via USB.

I connect the player with the scalers with an USB Hub and a USB to RS232 adapter.

I also tried to send the needed script (bytes) but nothing happened.

I tested all ports (1 to 7) but still no reaction from the switches.

 

Short description what I try to do:

The Player starts with Video1 and loop it until I press on my keyboard (also connected on the USB Hub) "q". With pressing "q" the Video2 starts and the player should send a command to the switches to change the Input from 1 to 2, but nothing happened.

Is there any way to find out on witch port the switch is connected on the player?

Is there any way to find out if the switches communicate with the player, or the player with the switches?

    For troubleshooting, have you tried connecting the RS232, to a PC instead of the scaler?

    You could use a serial terminal on the PC, and make sure that the player is sending out serial data.

     

    Also, you could simplify things, by using the player's built-in 3.5mm Serial port, with a cable such as this one.

    Getting RS232 to work can be tricky, because of Rx/Tx pinout, which sometimes is reversed for a particular application.

    You should confirm that the USB to serial, or 3.5mm to 9DB cable, match the 9pin pinout of the scaler.

    The player's Tx should be connected to the scaler Rx, at the bear minimum.

    I tried it with a Samsung 3,5mm to 9DB cable, but it didn´t work.

    I bought new adapters today (a 3.5mm to 9DB and the recommended USB to RS232 adapter).

    My PC doesn´t have a serial port, so I tried to connect the player to the pc with two USB to RS232 adapters, but it doesn´t work.

    So I will try it again with an other PC with a serial port.

     

    I will give an update wenn I received the adapters.

    The Samsung 3.5mm to DB9 cable, might work with a Null Modem adapter like this one, which would reverse the Rx/Tx.

    Have you set the correct baud rate, to match that of the scaler?

    The TV One has a default baud
    rate of 57600, while BrightSign default to 115200. 

     

    It is advised to first learn how to control the scaler from a PC, and then replicate the communication protocol, from BrightSign.

    Today I received the following cable:

    And I connected the XD1033 to a PC with a serial port, but I did not receive anything or can send anything.

    Is there any possiblity to show if the player is connected to the PC?

    I work with Terminal to send and receive the ASCII.

     

    Baudrate are booth 115200 and I selected Port 0 on the player.

    I bought also an Aten VS481A to use it instead of the corio switch.

    With the terminal software I can switch the VS481 from PC with a USB to serial adapter.

    I send the command sw i02 to select ch2.

    When I will send the same command with the player, it didn´t work (with the 3,5mm to serial and also a USB to serial adapter).

    It is a keyboard input event.

    When I press "q" an other video is playing and the switch should change from ch1 to ch2.

    I tried all possible ports, but without any effect.

     

    Maybe with this switch it is easier?

     

    Baudrate is changed to 19200.

    If you need to press Enter (EOL) at the terminal, check what the terminal is sending as EOL, and match that in BrightAuthor. (CR, LF, LF + CR)

    With the 3.5mm, send to Port 0 only.

     

    For troubleshooting, I'd try to connect two PCs, back to back. One PC is sending, and the other is receiving. See what is sent out by the sending terminal, that make the switcher respond.

    Then, replace the source PC, with the player, and look at what is received, at the listening PC. If nothing is received, you might need to reverse the Tx/Rx with a Null Modem adapter.

    Once you get something at the receiving PC, make sure that the EOL settings is correct.

    You might need a software tool that can show exactly what is being sent, at the Byte level.

    Have you given up on the 1T-C2-750?

    I use an ATEN Switch with 4 IN and 1 Out, cause I need now 3 Inputs.

    So I never tried it again with the corio, but I think it should also work without any problem.
