BrightSign HD224 Won't Turn on CASIO XJ-UT310WN

I have a BrightSign HD224 player. I want to set it up so that it turns the CASIO projector on and off each day at a certain time. I'm using the 3.5MM IR port out on the player, which according to documentation is Port 1 in Bright Author. In Bright Author version 4.7.2.12 I'm using the Send String (EOL) and sending PWR0 and PWR1 using a crossover cable with a 3.5MM to DB9 connector. I'm using GPIO button "0" as a test to trigger the turning ON and OFF. The projector will not respond. The baud settings in Bright Author match the CASIO projector's specs: 19200, 8, N, 1. The Projector settings have been adjusted to allow remote ON/ OFF commands.

Things I've tried:

Send String (noEOL)

Sending the ASCII PWR0 and PWR1 with and without parentheses (PWR1) (PWR0) as shown in the manual.

Making the 3.5MM to DB9 a pass-through cable instead of a crossover cable.

Nothing works.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Based on this product comparison, the HD224 is not equipped with serial port.

IR is normally intended to drive an Infra Red (IR) blaster, which controls devices by pretending to be a hand-held remote control.

If applicable, you could use an IR blaster, or use a model which has serial port. Another option might be adding a serial port with USB adapter. support@brightsign.biz, might be able to recommend a compatible serial-USB adapter.
