I have a brightsign XT1144. How do I use a video input to trigger an event?

When HDMI input signal is missing, the area where live video shows becomes transparent.
If the looping video is on one video zone, and the HDMI input is on the other video zone, layered over the first, you should be able to get it to work as needed.
That's the quick and dirty solution. Responding to HDMI connection event can be accomplished with BrightAuthor Plugin, and a bit of BrightScript code, based on roHdmiInputChanged event.

I can't get more than one video zone. Brightauthor limits me to just 1 video zone, with only image zones allowed on top. Am I missing something?
Make sure that your presentation was set for your player's model XT1144.
The model shows at the left of BrightAuthor title bar.
If it doesn't read XT1144, you should create a new presentation, and make sure you select the right model, during the initial part of creating the presentation.
