Hi, I'm looking for older firmware versions for the HDx20 series. I believe the one I need is v4.2.26, but I don't have any versions that old archived- are you able to provide a link?

Anton I’d like to match the firmware version on a replacement player to the version on a potentially malfunctioning player, so I can migrate the SD card to the new player. I do not have easy access to the original Bright Author presentation. I know presentations published using newer versions of Bright Author may not work on a player with older firmware, but is the reverse not true? Is it impossible to update firmware to the point of incompatibility?

Correct, aside from bugs that may impact specific functionality, I'm not aware of cases where having too new of a firmware will cause BrightAuthor not to work as expected.
