Bright Author cannot add hostame or FQDN

Hello,

To publish content to Brightsign units, Brigh Author currently only accept IP, is there a newer version or something configurable in the application to add units using Hostnames or FQDNs?

In our company we prefer not to add Static IP addresses rather use DHCP

Using Bright Author 4.7.2.18

Thank you

If you have a compatible Bonjour version installed and it isn't blocked on your network, BrightAuthor will automatically discover players on the same subnet/VLAN.

The Apple AirPort Utility includes Bonjour.  You can uninstall Apple Software Update and the AirPort applications after it completes installing, just leave Bonjour.
Be sure to restart the computer after installing/updating.

As for IP addressing, we advise against using static IPs as that requires reconfiguring the player in the event IP settings change.  Use DHCP and set an address reservation.

BrightSign players use DUID as the identifier for the DHCP server per RFC4361, so you may see that as the player's DHCP registration ID instead of its MAC address.
    The client ID is BrightSign:SERIALNUMBER
    (hex 42 72 69 67 …)
You can use this spreadsheet to convert player serial number to DUID in various formats

    Hi Brandon,

We use Brightsings in different broadcast domains throughout our MAN. Do you think is possible to build a list build a list of these devices even though these devices are not in the same subnet?
