Interactive - How to start presentation when 'mains' electricity is switched on to the USB or GPIO controler.

Hi,
Post's title might be a bit confusing, so let me explain.

I have a few LS422 with interactive presentation. It's as simple as:

-Start/Home screen is an image

- wait for an interactive command (so far it was pressing a key on a keyboard connected to master LS422 via USB)

- when above command happend play a video

- when media ends go back to home screen.

Keyboard was operated by a person. Now rather than using keyboard I need to use something that will work on the basis of: if it is powered by mains then send a signal to LS422 to start video, if it's not powered up, well it cannot send that signal.

Basically there will be outside source of power for that switch that will be On only when video should start.

So far I came up with two ideas that need some work on to make them reality:

1. LS422 USB - USB extension - some kind of relay connected to 'mains' that will close once 'mains' is On - some kind of device that will send 'keystroke-like' signal continuously (maybe Arudion?).

In this example keystroke is pressed non-stop and relay allow the signal to reach LS422 only when there is power from mains. Is there a relay that would open/close USB connection?

2. LS422 GPIO - Arudion programed to send GPIO signal non-stop to LS422. It's powered by mains, so it can do it only when power is On.

I did not use Arudino before, but from what I understand it seams like a good option.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to add other options/ideas.

Thanks for readin :)
