Can't complete LS423 Device Setup

When I attempt to set up the LS423, I am unable to hit the submit button and complete setup. I get an error from Angular in the browser console:

TypeError: fwManifestData is null.

Error: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

    Kevin,

I haven't heard of what error before. what browser are you using? can you log into the player at port :2999 and see what errors, if any, are reported.

what firmware is on the player? can you try reinstalling the firmware on the player, and retest?

If that fails, then you'd need to do the setup using brightuathor.

I tried it in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Vivaldi. I also updated the browsers to be sure.

All four produced the same error. This was when pulling the device out of the box, following the instructions as described on the yellow paper, and hooking it up to a laptop via an ethernet cable and a switch.

I tried all four with the latest firmware on the SD card, and an empty SD card. The SD card was formatted as FAT. Same error over and over

Unfortunately I can't attempt to reproduce it further. We were on a deadline, so we exchanged the devices for two that had already gone through device setup.

are you doing bsn setup, local network, simple networking? and can you send a screenshot of the last page you're on before the error?

Lyndon this is the same error from another thread where you said 'the issue is if the unit is unable to connect to the internet and get firmware information it will hang'

You said you were working on a fix back in April.  Where are we at with the fix?

That issue was fixed that same week.  We haven't had any other reports. There was a specific 401 error being reported in the system log for that issue.

IF you log into the player, ipaddress/index.html, and go to the log tab, please post the contents of the system log. So, the unit has internet access?  If you log into the player and go to the sd tab, it shows the sd card as recognized?

Also, you can look at the javascript console for the on unit setup:

    http://unitipaddress:2999

You can visit the console via that url and see where the setup is stuck...

Another thing you can do is log into the player's ip/index.html to go to the the diagnostic tab, you do a network capture, for 60 seconds. It will save a pcap file to the sd card.
