BRIGHTWALL 6 SCREENS - 3 ROWS 2 COLUMNS

I am looking to create a Brightwall that has 3 rows and 2 columns for 6 screens total. This will be 1 video stretched onto all of the screens.

I can't seem to get the resolution correct. In my stores, I have screens that are individual, 2 columns by 2 rows, and 1 column by 3 rows. For all of these I am able to use either 1920x1080 or 1080x1920 resolution. In the case of the 6 screens however, the video does not look right.

I tried to create this with letterbox and centered, as I normally would, but the video is too small. Then I tried to both stretch and scale in the presentation properties, and the video is distorted. I also tried with a video that was double the width (2160x1920) and I couldn't even add the video to the playlist because the "resolution is not supported".

I am looking for some advice on how I should move forward. Is this a resolution issue or a settings issue? Or something else entirely?

Thank you!

Assuming 3 x 2 with displays in Landscape orientation...

    2 columns = 1920 + 1920 = 3840

    3 rows = 1080 + 1080 + 1080 = 3240

    w3840 x h3240 is an aspect ratio of 32:27 when you have I assume a 16:9 video

So you are trying to fit something rectangular into a box that is closer to being square.

You would need a 1920x1620 video to fit this (it would be scaled to twice its size to fit). I don't know how BrightAuthor would interpret this resolution.

For typical video wall scaling, you keep the number of rows and columns the same;  2x2, 3x3, 4x4, etc. to maintain the 16x9 aspect ratio.

When you get into odd arrangements, then you start working with odd aspect ratios.

It doesn't mean you can't do it, just that you have to put some extra effort into making it work.

If it were me for this configuration, I would create a w3840 x h3240 project in Adobe After Effects, create all the content for the movie, and then render out to six (6) individual 1920x1080 video files, one for each player that I would then add to the BrightWall project.

This gives you a 1:1 pixel for each of the displays, and nothing is stretched.

We typically opt to go with the suggested workflow. Starting 3840 x 3240 and dice to individual 1920x1080 files.

The result is way superior to stretching a single file, but I can see how that shortcut would be tempting, budget/time wise.

Would be interesting to try this:

Design with a 1920x1620 canvas in After Effects

Export while scaling the vertical axis, without preserving aspect ratio to 1920x1080.

If played as 16x9 on a computer, the result should look distorted, stretched in the vertical axis. This is not a problem.

Next, play the file on the BrightWall, in stretched mode as before.

The image should look normal, as designed.

If viewed for the right distance, the resolution degradation should not be a problem.
