Composite Video Input

Hello, 

 

I am working on a project and looking to feed a composite video signal from a thermal camera into a Brightsign player. We will be pushing the live feed from the camera through the Brightsign player and onto a display. 

Is there a current or old model of Brightsign player that I could use to accomplish the above?

    I believe there used to be a solution for that in the HD1010 era, but you would need to get hold of an old, unsupported device.

    You could instead go with the XT1143 and a composite to HDMI converter, such as this one:

    BrightSign can handle video streams too. Can the thermal camera stream video?

    Can your display do PIP? (Picture-In-Picture)

    Hello! Thank you for the speedy response.

    The thermal camera we are using will be able to output a live video stream. - Model:  FLIR A315

    I am not sure if the displays that we have specified have the PIP feature, but if needed we could always select a different monitor that does.

    How does a PIP compatible display factor into the equation? We will be displaying the streaming video at full screen and do not have a current need to have an additional video or image located on screen?

    For my own comprehension, what specification about the XT1143 allows it to be the correct model for this situation?

    I was just shooting at all directions, trying to gather more information about your requirements, which now I have :)

    The FLIR A315 doesn't seem to have composite video output, judging by this page:

    It does seem to do streaming over the network.

    Looks like you would need to look into using the BrightSign to present the camera stream.

    Would the subject be in motion, or would a static image, taken once in every few seconds be good enough?

    The subjects will be in motion. The camera will be constantly feeding the video to a display. We would like for people to be able actively see there thermal image when standing in front of the camera. 

    I should og typed out the A300/A310 instead of the A315, an error on my part. 

    I had considered previously using the Ethernet output to stream, but i was dissuaded when I saw that the FLIR cameras that output video through the ethernet port use protocols/formats that did not appear to work with the Brightsign player.

    - GenICam

    - GigEVision

    I may have made an incorrect assumption though. 

    I did some research and it looks like those protocols are an attempt to standardize the industries video output format. the

    I think that RTSP, RTP are the protocols that you should look into.

    There would be less moving parts that way, and you would not need a player model with live video input, which would make that more cost effective

    With that said, If you are showing the camera in full screen, you could feed composite video directly to the screen.

    The BrightSign player, can potentially control the screen's input via serial port, and switch between HDMI, and composite as needed.

    It has been some time, but I wanted to Thank you four help working through the video protocols. We evenually gave up on trying to make the protocols work and went with an analog output. 

     

    I downgraded from a camera with a brand new output (gigE, Ethernet,..) and went with a thermal camera that output an analog signal through a coaxial connection. We then converted the analog signal to digital (HDMI) and used an HDMI splitter to send the video signal to (two) displays over HDMI cables
