UDP - permission denied

Hello!

I am trying to use UPD functionalities with an HD210w. I've set the UDP destination IP to 255.255.255.255 with destination and receiver ports to 5000 (which I think are the default values).

My commands work fine when I'm using a UPD testing tool on my computer (which is connected to the same WiFi network as the BrightSign player), but don't work when I'm using my iPhone (also on the same network). I either do not get any response or receive a "Permission denied" error.

My goal would be to use iPhones or iPads as remotes, so this is a pretty important issue to me.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks!

What do you use on IOS to send a UDP command to the player?

Is your computer connected over WIFI, or is the connection wired to wifi router?

I'm asking because, for security reasons, some routers do not allow communication between devices connected over wifi, while allowing each one of them access to the internet.

I use WiFi TCP/UDP Controller from the Google Play Store and I don't need a username or password to send to the player.  So that issue must be somewhere else.

It sounds like an IOS related issue that they are having.

    A screenshot could help...

I tried two apps on iOS : TCP-UDP Client which is a free app and UPD Remote (for Alcorn McBride)

The computer, the iPhone and the BrightSign player are all connected on the same WiFi network, none on ethernet.

Using Android could be an option if it's the only solution, but we're only equipped with iOS devices at the moment...

I use an ASUS RT-N12 router (for lab testing) and I just tried an iPad and the Brightsign app (I am not a fan of this app except for lab testing).  That worked.  So your issue almost has to be with your WiFi or iPad.

I didn't even think about trying the BrightSign app! Looks like I wanted to make this more complicated, haha. Works like a charm!
