    Hi Rich,

The Numato board would appear to the player, as a serial device, and you would need to confirm that it is supported by BrightSign.

Assuming that the Numato is supported, you would then use Serial port events, to respond to activity on the GPIO terminals.

Typically, Serial port over USB, would be port 1 in BrightAuthor, but I may be wrong. The log on the player, can be of a resource in such process.

Best is to first use a terminal emulator such as Putty on Windows, to see what exactly is being sent from the Numato.

With all that said, I recently stumbled upon a product from BrightSign, that allows adding GPIO to the LS player.

For $25, that seems like a great deal, and some peace of mind, should you need BrightSign's support.

I wanted those brightsign cables, but they weren't in stock when I ordered and its a bit much to ask for $50 in shipping for a usb cable

Interesting; That item could be shippped with USPS Priority Padded Envelope for less than $7...

So going back to your Numato :)

Do you still need any help?

We could get on the phone, and do a remote desktop session if you'd like

when i have putty open, i get nothing when in a session on the correct com port. Windows tells me the numato is running properly, but when i press the push button connected to the "ground" and "101", nothing happens in putty.

What am i missing? My code knowledge is non existant

I have asked BrightSign several times to at least add USPS Flat Rate boxes to the Shipping options for smaller items.  A few weeks ago I needed to order 2 replacement power supplies, and had to wait 7 days for FedEx Ground, anything faster would have more than doubled the cost of the order, and thankfully I was not in a hurry this time.  Items would have easily fit in a USPS Flat Rate box for almost the exact same cost as FedEx Ground, and I would have had in 2 days instead of 7.

Last email to BrightSign Sales explaining this and asking to please add these options, they still haven't even taken the time to respond.

Have you configured putty for the correct baud rate and other serial port settings?
Just to confirm: you temporarily have the USB device connected to a PC.

Yes I have Putty configured to the settings shown in device manager for the numato board.

If everything is configured as described here

    https://docs.numato.com/doc/8-channel-usb-gpio-module-with-analog-inputs/#controlling-gpios-using-serial-terminal-emulator-software

You should be able to send a command by typing in Putty, and receive a response.

If that is not working, then you may be looking at a faulty Numato

    Hello

Do you know how to program those BrightSign USB-GPIOs cables with the BrightAuthor?
