Hello,
We have 6 Units (XD2 XD1132) which have all started to display the error message 'Unable to connect to "xx.x.x.xxx"
I can ping all devices with no issues but still receive the error on all devices.
This worked perfectly just yesterday and no changes have been made since.
Has anyone come across this previously? Haven't yet restarted the server...
Thank you

Brandon Official comment That error will come up if BrightAuthor cannot communicate with the player's Local Web Server (LWS) for publishing.
This is a different server than the unit's Diagnostic Web Server on port 80 (which isn't a requirement for Local File Networking).
The LWS runs on ports 8008 and 8080, and is only running when the player is operating normally.
Common causes for not being able to communicate with the LWS:
- Player has not been configured for Local File Networking
- BrightScript engine has stopped or Player is in reboot loop - failing storage, bad content, or faulty presentation/plugin/script
- Network filtering/security blocking communication between BrightAuthor and player
- Firewall/security software blocking communication between BrightAuthor and player
- Player has changed IP address - you should set a DHCP reserved address so it always gets the same address

^UD\_$ Do those players connect to BSN for content?
Would probably help if you posted a picture of what you are seeing.

Rtatman I'm having the same issue on our HD222. Firmware version 5.1.16, no BSN. Connecting a display adapter to the unit shows normal BrightSign splash screen with model, IP, serial, and firmware.

Bright Scripters Sounds like a faulty SD card.
Can you try with a different card?
If a different card doesn't resolve, then it could be a faulty player.
Factory reset is something to try too.

Robert Presson Same issue; I am unable to connect VIA NETWORKING to the device. It isn't SD card related. I was able to update the firmware to latest version using USB, unit displays published content from SDcard; however, I am wanting to create a new one through Author..

Seibert, Eric Hello, I am receiving the same message in both the "Publish" and "Manage" tabs. I'm unable to publish to any of the units and can not see them in manage to get a current status. I am not aware of any network changes. I can ping the IP addresses from the server.

It I'm having this issue too.
I've gone through the web interface and don't see a place to configure Local File Networking - can you explain how to configure this?
All the other possiblities are ok - I just updated the firmware to 82.8.2 so hopefully that'll fix it (fingers crossed)
Ours is PoE so if I disable power to the port and then re-enable power on the port that reboots it then I can access it but that shouldn't be how I access the unit.... All the network diagnostics pass. Aaaand I just lost access to it again...

It OK I found that it was configured for Local File Networking - but it keeps disconnecting - has anyone found a solution for this?
