Time setting is lost...?

Hi guys

Seems that one of our players (LS423) has lost it's time setting after only half an hour??

The player had been running for about 2 days constantly, and then we had to remove the player to another location.

I have read that the "Super Cap" inside the player (a special kind of battery backup), is able to hold the charge, and thereby the time setting, for at least 14 days. But that was not what we experienced.

Do any of You have had the same problem?

    What I forgot to comment:

It may be a problem, if the player is placed on a geographical location, where there is no internet covering (both wireless and wired) in case of power failure. The only solution may therefore be an UPS, which can hold the voltage, for a certation period of time, until the power returns.

If the player has been plugged in and running for several hours the SuperCap should have charged. As I recall it take about 4 hours to charge, and should be good for about a week or so of being unplugged and retain time setting. If there was no network connection after the unit was moved and it was less than a week since being unplugged, it should have retained the last time it had acquired from the internet.

Sounds like you might have a bad SuperCap. As with any electronics, it sometimes happens.

Might be best to contact Support and see about doing an RMA on that player.

Is it in an overly hot environment?

As I wrote in my first message, the player had been running for about 2 days constantly. Thats about 48 hours of charging, so that might be enough, after my opinion. I think You are right John, about the RMA issue, I will try that. I'm also a little suspicious about that "SUPER" Cap :-)

It is not placed in a hot environment...

    Thanks both of You
