Multiple Player Publishing Question

Hello,

I use BrightAuthor v5.x to manage several players (mix of HD224 / HD225) using Local Network.  Each player has its own presentation and unique schedule.  Presentation content/schedules are updated/stored on a local drive.  When I need to publish updated presentations, I open the schedule, select the appropriate player and publish.  I do this for each player.  Is there a way in BrightAuthor to update multiple players simultaneously?  Or is there a script I can use to update multiple players with one click?

Please note: 1) each player has its own unique presentation AND unique schedule.  2) I'm not using Simple File Network because I don't have access to a webserver AND since the players are remote, I like the ability to see what is running via the Manage-> View Snapshots.

Thanks.

    Hi Dawn,

I hear you!  This is one of the frustrations of doing the LFN process.  You do have to choose and schedule each device individually because of their uniqueness.  Unfortunately, that's how the LFN process works.  It's stable for about a dozen or so devices.  I've found it gets a little wonky if you have more than that.

Some thoughts on your other notes though that may help:

    1. You can setup a local PC to act as a webserver using something like WAMP.  It's an installer that you can use on Windows.  They also make it for Linux (LAMP) and Mac (MAMP).  It stands for Windows Apache MySQL PHP. (or Linux-, Mac-).  With that, you could set an internal IP address that is assigned to that computer and use SFN with http://192.168.1.xxx/localhost/playerfolder01 (or whatever your IP range is).  We've used that successfully.

    2. You can get crazy and map virtual hosts using the WAMP server as well.  That may involve editing your Domain Name Server (DNS) to help map intranet URLs, and then ensuring the DNS that is assigned to the BrightSigns is also mapped.  That way you could have an internal URL such as http://player01/ and it would point to the appropriate folder on the internal server.

    3. Under Simple File Network, if they are on your same network, they still show up in the Manage Tab in BrightAuthor.  You can see the snapshots in the Diagnostic Web Server.

    Cheers,
    Monica

Thank you Monica for your reply.  I may have to request a webserver as I'm getting more requests for these players.  I do like your third point in that they will still show in BrightAuthor / manage tab...they will be on same network.  Thanks again.
