New HD2000 - Only get logo sign

ROKU BrightSign HD2000 v2.0.94

I have a 256MB SanDisk Compact Flash card that I have copied the extracted files from BrightSignDemo2k.zip. I inserted the card powered up and no demo just logo screen

Tried again with just autorun.bas and dalmations.mpg renamed to autoplay.mpg - same result.

Help! Is this a problem with the player.

If you are seeing are seeing the logo then the unit isn't starting the autorun file. Can you remove the CF card and look in the slot to see if there's a bent compact flash pin?

Also, do you have a usb thumbdrive or sd cards (not sdhc) that you test with as well?

I just purchased the device from Roku.  Is this a common problem with the Compact Flash slot.

What are the pro and cons of the Compact Flash slot over the SD or the USB?  Is there anything that the Compact Flash slot must be used for?

In other words, should I be returning this unit?

It's not common, but I've seen it happen before. We'll replace the unit. You shouldn't have to keep a unit with a problem.

With that said, there's no real benefit in most cases of CF or SD over USB. Since the unit is standard SD, it maxes out at 4GB for SD. While you can get 32GB CF cards, and USB thumbdrives of various sizes. And, you could use a usb hard drive with it as well.

There's nothing the CF card slot must be used for. So, you can go ahead and test with SD or USB so you can actually use the product, but at some point, we should replace it.

With all that said, some of our customers use industrial grade CF cards that support longer read cycles before failure, and wider temperature ranges.
