Controlling RSS feeds

I'm trying to get the RSS to update itself on a timer, and I'd like to be able to dictate that the display should only show the last X amount of posts in the feed.

I'm working with the Comix Demo for testing/learning. I've tried adding "NetworkTimer 1 RSS" in my playlist both under the display line and immediately under the RSS zone definition line, but niether are working. How do I set the NetworkTimer for the RSS? Is it possible to have the display only show the latest post in the feed?

Thanks

    NetworkTimerPeriodic 1 RSS

will check the feed everything minute, but there aren't any controls in the playlist that allow you to dictate which feeds to display. It will most likely require a custom script to only show the most recent feed, or a modification to how the contents of the feed are displayed.

By default the most recent post is listed first, and then the next oldest, etc. To confirm, you just want to be able to add a value to the playlist that dictates how many articles to play? There isn't currently an option like that, but it's something that could be added. Do you want to be able to do this for only one rss feed in your playlist?

Yes, that's correct I want to be able to tell the player "only display the latest", or"only display the last three articles in the feed." I'm currently only looking to have one RSS feed controlled this way, and in fact only plan on using one feed in my playlist.

    Thanks for your help!

I think I'd recommend proxying the RSS feed and chopping out the older posts. I would be surprised if there aren't services out there that do that already.  RSS search engines, etc.

I'd like better control over the fonts of RSS feeds via the Brightsign Network Managers.

    Hello:

Along the same lines, what is the best way to get RSS feeds to refresh and get the latest data?  I notice that the RSS/Twitter feeds only seem to fetch data when the BrightSign is first booted (static background image with several RSS/Twitter feeds with animated text overlays).

    Thanks
