Freeze Frame on Loop

Hey All,

I'm new to the product and am testing an 810 for looping HD playback.

I've noticed that there is a brief screen freeze at the point where the video loops.

Does anyone know a way to mitigate this?

The files I'm using are 1-2GB off an Extreme III 8 GB sdhc. We have been using these same files on Pixel Magic HD MediaBoxes previously and had not experienced the frame freeze with them. I would like to switch to the Brightsign because of the smaller form factor and ability to tuck the player behind a flat-mounted monitor. However the current frame freeze may be beyond our clients' tolerance limit as they desire seamless looping playback.

Lemme know if anyone has any suggestions.

    Do you files have audio? Currently, the units can seemlessly loop transport streams that have no audio.



    Otherwise, there will be a little hitch as you noticed when looping a video.

    hi there,



    I just bought a brightsign HD110, for looping a videoclip at SD quality.



    I was told that this would be possible by your people, who visited Amsterdam recently for a demo about the new players.



    I also get a freeze frame when looping



    my situation:

    30 sec 720x576PAL SD mpeg2 transport stream file without audio, made by procoder3, or apple compressor. both have the freeze



    urgent question: How do I get a seamless loop?

    I just emailed you a simple script to try. It plays a video named video.ts and loops it seemlessly. The script is simple, just the following:



    v=CreateObject("roVideoPlayer")

    v.SetLoopMode(true)

    v.PlayFile("video.ts")

    while true

    end while



    --------end of script-----------



    How were you playing back the video? There are two ways a video can be set to loop, and it's possible our autoplay file uses the method that doesn't loop seamlessly by default. Is it just a single video that you need to loop seamlessly?

    Hi, I am also having this issue on an HD1010 with a .ts file with no audio.

    Where do I add this script to set the player in loopmode to test it?

    If you just want to play that one file, copy the script to a text file, and name the text file autorun.brs, and copy that file to your flash card with the video.



    You will be able to do this more easily when the interaitive version of BrightAuthor is posted for beta.

    Hi, Lyndon.  I have a few HD410s.  Let me confirm something: I can only have seamless looping if I have no audio tracks?  I use Apple Compressor to export MPEG-2s (program stream).  And I bump up SD to 72op (which perhaps I don't need to do?)  And: I notice a freeze frame and dropped audio.  Is there a FAQ or a guide to optimizing looping media?  Thanks.

    If you're talking about looping a video seamlessly, then yes,  you can't if it has audio. But, you should not experience dropped audio. The video quality technote on our support site covers what should be in your content for the best results.



    If you have high bitrate video, and you're getting dropped audio, it could be because the flash card isn't providing enough throughput.

    Hi, Lyndon.  You write, "you should experience dropped audio," but I think you meant to write, "you shouldn't experience dropped audio."  Right?



    Could you provide the link to the technote please?

    I'm trying to get the smooth loop thing going too....

    after jumping through the hoops to get a video to actually play (gee, you think h.264 would mean h.264....) and finding some of your hidden hints (.ts as the extension? you think you'd mention that somewhere in the docs....) I come to find that your 'seamless' looping is not...

    at least it doesn't flash to black like some other players I've tested...

    I've pulled the audio track, checked the bitrate, yadda, yadda...still getting a stutter of a couple frames at the loop point...which kinda blows

    any ideas?

    (oh yeah, another MAc user here who doesn't believe that you haven't gotten many requests for your authoring software on the Mac....but if you're not gonna make a version, could you at least improve your docs to show the necessary steps?)

    We are working on updating our documentation.

    How are you trying to loop the content? Are you using a script, brightauthor (what version?), or did you just put the video on the flash card by itself? You can also contact me directly at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:support@brightsign.biz">support@brightsign.biz</a><!-- e -->.

    I can send you a sample BrightAuhtor project, or a script that plays the file seamlessly.

    If you're using BrightAuthor, you can change your playlist type to interactive.  All you need to do is drag your video file to the interactive playlist, and publish it.

    Here's a script that plays video.ts in a loop. Do you have an mpeg2 version of the same file?

    I tried a similar one posted earlier in this thread, as well as just dropping a video straight on the card with no playlist

    I haven't tried your peecee-only program yet....I need to get my shots first before I attempt to actually create something on one of my pc's...they're usually just props...

    the video was finally created as a transport stream from compressor...MPEG2, no audio track, .ts extension manually added

    I'll try this script & report back
