HD2000 display controller problem?

Hello, I have a BrightSign HD2000 but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I tried using the VGA port with a known working display and cable, yet the display never received a signal. When I turned it on, the light power light is lit, and the 'connector activity' light keeps cycling through all the ports and never stops. I tried updating the software with a compact flash card, but when I turn it on with the card inserted, the Memory Card light flashes for about 2 seconds, then turns off for about 10 seconds and repeats.

When I tried using a component connection, the TV's signal would be a solid green with some white noise on the right side. It would flicker for a few seconds, and then the signal would be lost (I assume this is somewhat related to the resolution of the signal or something).

I do not have an HDMI cable at the moment but will soon, and will be using it for the permanent installation of my HD2000 once I get it working correctly.

Lastly, I tried plugging in an ethernet cable, but I couldn't find the box's address in the DHCP listing (perhaps its not being broadcasted?)

Any suggestions, or will I have to RMA it and get a replacement?

Thanks,
Peter

EDIT: I just realized that after the 4th time of leaving it on with the CF card loaded (with the latest software update on it), the update file is no longer there, so I assume it was able to update successfully and delete the file as instructed. Unfortunately, nothing else in my situation has changed even after this software update.

can you try a simple playlist that has a videomode set to VGA that plays a single file? If the video output is set to one of the modes that works on component, then you normally see a red picture on vga or no picture.

It definitely shouldn't be cycling. Please download a new autorun.bas file from our support site, and if you have a usb thumbdrive, let's try playing the content from there.

As for the update, please try the firmware again, and this time, hold downt he video select button when powering up with the update on the flash card, until the upgrade light comes on, and the unit starts updating.

    For example:

    videomode 1024x768x60p

    video1.mpg

    Thanks for the help

I was able to upgrade the software to the latest version using a USB stick, and as far as i know (minus having a video signal), it was successful.

I tried downloading the demo onto the CF card, and the memory card light flashed for a few seconds, and then it went back to cycling through the connector activity lights.

I was able to get an hdmi cable and hdtv, but its not receiving a signal by default.  If i manually select the hdmi input, the tv screen displays 'receiving data', then goes black while the lights cycle.  When it gets to the light gets to Ethernet, the TV flashes blue as if it lost the signal, but then goes back to black once it switches to the next (VGA) light.

I also tried putting the demo onto a usb stick, and the exact same thing happens.

I also replaced the demo with the sample script you gave (adjusting the res. for hdmi and the video file of course) but still nothing
