VGA Converter Module and Video Modes

For the new VGA Converter Module
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.brightsign.biz/products/VGA_converter_module.php">http://www.brightsign.biz/products/VGA_ ... module.php</a><!-- m -->

1) Does the VideoMode (interface ifVideoMode) need to be set to something specific, or will the converter module work for *anything* that comes out of the VGA output?

2) Setting VideoMode with ifVideoMode SetMode(rotString mode) sometimes requires a spontaneous reboot, as per the object ref manual, page 12:
"If the video mode specified in SetMode is different than the object’s current video mode, the unit will reboot and set the unit’s video mode to the new setting during system initialization."

My question is, does the VideoMode setting persist if the Brightsign 1010 loses power, or do I *always* have to
(powerup) SetVideoMode
(reboot caused by SetVideoMode) Play my video

3) Is there a way to query the current (or last set) SetMode including the frequency (e.g. 60p or 60i)?

Thank you.

    The module should work on anything coming out the vga output, but  since you're scaling down, it would make the most sense to use 640x480 or 800x600. 1024x768 might look ok as well.

    Yes, the videomode persists after a reboot. And, yes, if you change videomode, the unit restarts.

    If you're writing a script you can use the getwidth and getheight commands to find the dimensions, but it won't give you the frequency.

    The Brightsign VGA to composite/S-Video converter also has two DIP switches which in the accompanying leaflet are described as "Adjust PAL/NTSC system".

    Which switch chooses NTSC in what position?

    Thank you.

    Gracious thanks is granted, language is difficulty to convert, in inserted the boxed scroll of product.  Scroll directions have two models purpose and kind user desires to ignore what can be read.

    (Translation: Thank you, the product instruction insert is poorly translated from Chinese.  The instructions further reference two possible models that ship in the same box and users might consider wholly disregarding them.)
