Image Time On Screen Stuck at 12 Sec

This is a new setup. I'm running BrightAuthor 2 under Vista 64 with an HD210 Firmware 3.2.67. I cannot change the time on screen for images. The default is supposed to be 3 sec but all my slides stay on for 12 sec no matter what I set the image Time on Screen parameter for. I can select different transitions ok, but the time parameter has no effect. Appreciate your help. Peter Cassidy

If you're changing edit preferences, those are global settings, defaults that are used for any new projects. For the current project, you need to open the images one at a time or as a group to change the time on the screen.

ALso, depending on the image size, if there's any scaling involved, and then transition, it can take more than time  to process, so 3 seconds might not be enough time.

If you are playing in a zone or the output you're using is lower than the images, I would resize the images to match what you're using.

Thanks, Lyndon. That helps a lot.

Do you have written guidelines of this and other things that significantly affect response times and ways to minimze the impact? I did some tests based on your suggestion and found that only with one zone, the images sized exactly, and no effects would the time on screen work ok at 1 sec. When I had 3 zones with all images time on screen was off significantly at 1 sec. It would be nice to know what the big CPU users are.

    Peter,

I don't have a write up on this and I'll need to remedy that.

Images on the brightsign can take longer than expected to load, as you've seen.

-Scaling an image up or down can add signifcant time depending how much you're scaling it.
-Image size is another concern. If an image were 1024x765 and displayed without scaling, it would open faster than one image that was 1920x1080.

    -Preload & time on screen
Unless your images are smaller, 1024x768 or lower, they aren't likely to open in 1 second.

THe exception to this is if the image that plays next is preloaded into memory. If you're playing a playlist, The next image is always preloaded, so it opens fast. But, when you are doing multiple zones, the preload can take long as multiple images are being preloaded. Plus, if they are all set to 1 second, then the preload is trying to occur at the same time.

If you stagger the displays times, you're less likely to run into problems with multiple zones.
