No audio going to speakers

I have an hd 1010 with a vob file on it. I am trying to play the video and audio from the 1010 on a Samsung Synchmaster TV. The video plays without problems but I'm not getting any sound. I have tried plugging headphones directly into the 1010 and still no luck.

  If the audio in the vob is not supported, then that would cause this problem. Is the audio ac3?

  Ok. There are programs you can use to change the audio encoding in the file, and nothing else. VLC media player can do this. SO can womble's mpeg2vcr. You can change the audio to mp2 or mp3.
