Portrait Display or Rotation

Good Morning, I realize that I'm asking about a feature that is requested. Is there a tentative planned date for image rotation support? I ask because I've been trying to find a good platform to do signage and not require a different format from what is already produced... I work in an institution of higher ed, and we're anchored to posters, and there is limited space for them, and they won't take themselves down when the event has happened... There is a piece of software/service/suite that handles clubs and organizations ( <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.collegiatelink.net">http://www.collegiatelink.net</a><!-- m --> ) and they offer a "Flyer board" which I would love to have as three or four displays instead of posters. But... their images will come as 8.5x11 or 11x17 not 16:9... thus not display properly Thanks, Thomas

    Are your screens going to be posted in portrait, or you just want the brightsign to rotate the portrait cotnent.
    While I've seen this feature on our to do list, I haven't  seen it  high on our priority list, so right now it's just a future feature with no further detail.

    My hope would be to mount the displays in portrait orientation.   And not have to attempt to perform image transformations before downloading the images to the player...  Without having to have "glue" in between the sign player and the site hosting the images keeps the whole system more simple and more reliable, one less stage to fail.  

    I suppose if there is no other method to do this, I can make an intermediate website to sit in between that can transform images.

    Heck, even if the player could be told to start in portrait orientation and otherwise just function that would fine.   If that were easier than making it rotate images?

    As a starting point, it would be great if the date & time fields could be rotatable, in the same way that the ticker can - I'm fine with building media & images sideways for now, but it's pointless if I can't show the date & time on the correct orientation. If the date & time are simple text fields, it should be a fairly straightforward update? (Unless I've missed an update or a 'how-to' post somewhere...).

    You're correct that the date and time doesn't rotate. It's currently on our features list of things to fix, but probably won't get resolved until early next year.
