Random Play

Hey There, I'm running a 3 zone BS presentation on a BS hd 1010 player. The player is loaded with around 1000 music video clips in the video presentation window. I'm looking for a script that will play these music videos in a random playlist for me so that : a) The same songs do not play in the same order each time the unit reboots b)Songs don't repeat within a certain amount of time Are there any scripts out there that can do this? Thanks for your help. Loving testing out this unit. Regards

Brightauthor won't do this currently. It doesn't have a random option for playlist playback.

You could do this with a custom script.

It might be possible to customize the standard script that's published with brightauthor to randomize what's played back in the main zone, the one with the videos. I don't know how much tinkering it would take. The same applies for not playing a song if it's been played in the last x minutes.

Is this just for testing, or for a project?

    Hi Lyndon,

Thanks for the reply. Initially this would be for a proof of concept for a customer however if it works well we will rollout to a number of outlets.

In terms of tinkering how much would be involved? Whilst I'm not a developer I have access to a development team. Is there access to resources as to how this may be acheived?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards

I think this would be much easier to do with a script. THere's an object reference guide, and a brightscript reference that cover scripting in detail.

This response is a few years late but just in case other people are wondering about the answer to this, Gilderfluke & Co. sells a custom script that will allow your brightsign to do many things including randomize content.  You can buy it directly from the website I believe.
