Clock availability

Hi I am currently evaluating a few products for digital signage and it appears that BrightSign is the best option. Prior to ordering a test unit though I have a few questions. I noticed on the BrightSign comparison matrix that Real Time Clock is only available on HD810/ 1010 & 1010w. I have a client that requires clock to be shown in a zone, yet only requires the HD210 module. Can you please confirm if this is possible on a 210 unit and what specifically "real time clock with SuperCap" means as well as the difference between just showing a clock in a zone and what real time clock with SuperCap offers. Thanks in advance for your help regards IwatchLive

The HD210W has a real time clock. But, the orignal HD210 does not.

Without the rtc, the unit won't remember the date and time if it's powered up and there's no time server present. So, if you have the unit on a network, with no time server, and no internet access. In this case, there's no way to set the date and time on the HD210.

With the rtc, you can manually set the date and time, even if there's no time server to use. And, with the rtc, the unit can set its time over the network, and if the network goes away, the unit still remembers the date and time when it's powered up.

    Thanks for the info Lyndon

That's great news, however I am a little confused as the published comparison matrix doesn't show the HD210w as having RTC, only the 810, 1010 and 1010w.

Is this therefore an error in the comparison matrix? sorry to be a pain, but I really dont want to order the HD210W units for a client that wants the date & clock on display to find out it's not available.

    Thanks again

Yes, there's an error if the rtc isn't listed.

The hd210w definitely has an rtc.
