Slow Touch screen response

Is there any way of caching or pre-loading jpegs when using the BrightAuthor program 1 The first push, probably cached because it is in alphabetical order is an instant response. After that, most of the pushes take more than 1 second. Feels like a long time on a touch screen. Any way to speed it up 1 The picture res is matched to the screen res (1360 x 768) so no scaling is required. Thanks, Brian

You can use bitmaps, and don't scale. But, images can still load slow. You can convert your images to mpegs and use those instead. Those will open faster than images.

    Thanks Lyndon,

I tried mpegs, both transport streams and mpg streams.
They still take 500Ms to load which for a touch screen is way too slow.
What format and duration mpeg would you suggest for the fastest load ?

    Cheers,

Your videos should take less than 100ms to open, in most cases closer to 20 - 40 ms. Which brightauthor version are you using? Transport streams open the fastest. and, you can use as low a bitrate as you want, so long as it still looks good.

    Thanks Lyndon,

It would seem not all transport steams are created equal.

I have been using a great encoder Tmpgenc for years, great encoder, good looking video etc, etc, etc.
Every transport stream created on this took at least 500ms to load, no matter what I did with bit rates, I frames etc.

In desperation I tried a transport stream created directly from Adobe After effects.  (1920 x 1080)
Nothing fancy............Pick me up off the floor........25ms load time.

Thought you might like the feedback.

    Cheers,

That's great to know especially since in the past, I've had some users tell me they couldn't create transport streams using After effects. What I would like is a sample of one of your slow to start videos so I can have one of our developers tell me why it's slow. That way I can add it to a faq. But, thank you very much for the update.

Hi I also use tmpegnc and have had no luck getting the touch screen to move like it should... Please up date as to how to resolve this. I am having a 800 millisecond response time!!! I am using a HD1010 player running a 1 second mp4 file to another... I have tried to pre render from AF A transport stream but luck getting there. Thanks Roni

It has to be an elementary mpeg transport stream with no audio.  Then it will load and run quickly.
