Brightsign Authoring Scripting or API?

I'm interested in authoring slideshow packages from my internal system and distributing using the BrightSign Network. Is this possible or is BrightSign Author a closed package? In other words, can my current system create a BrightSign compatible package to distribute or am I absolutely limited to using the Author software to create slideshows? Thanks.

    You can't distribute something directly using the brightsign network without using brightauthor.

    One way you could do this is to create a brightauthor project that points to a media rss feed. PUblish that on the brightsigns. Then, any updates to the feeds would automatically show up on the units without you having to use brightauthor again since the media rss update doesn't require any action from brightauthor. Let's say you create a flickr photostream. You can add that photostream as an mrss feed to a brightauthor project. Now, whenever you udpate your flickr photostream, the brightsign will automatically get the updates.

    But, this setup doesn't require a brightsign network account or setup. You can create a standalone project that checks an mrss feed, but does nothing else over the network.
