I'm a Roku newbie but managed to get an error message I can't find in the forum:

No current sync state available

What I'm trying to do is about as simple as it gets: autoplay a 10-minute mpg at 1920x1080x60i with 5.1-channel AC3 output to the spdf. The only thing that has (sort of) worked is basic autoplay (rename the file autoplay.mpg and put it on the card along with autorun.bas). But I'm not getting anything out of the spdf.

After several attempts at generating a playlist with the appropriate resolution and audio output, I tried a simple one-line .bsp with just the file name. No dice because "No current sync state available."

I've downloaded the latest firmware and the demos work. Any ideas?

That's not an error. It's output from the autorun file indicating there's nothing new from Brightsign Network Manager if you have set it up to download content from the server.

IF all you're trying to do is play a video and use hdmi, you playlist would look like this:

--------start of playlist ----------------

videomode 1920x1080x50i

audiooutput 2

video.mpg

----end of playlist---

And, all you need on the flash card, is the autorun, your playlist, and your video.

What are you using to edit your playlist?
