What SDHC cards are best?

We are about to install 9 pcs. HD210 and 1 pc 2000 in a 10 Channel synchro playout solution. What is the "perfect" SDHC chip to use? We are playing back MPEG-2 HD files 1080/50P (datarate 20 Mbit/s)!

- What about the SanDisc EXTREME III?

Thx & regards from Switzerland!

What you need is an SDHC card that will give you at least 3 - 4 Megabytes per second throughput. Unfortunately, we can't test that on your units because the 210 doesn't have a serial port. If it did, we could run a readperf test on the card to verify it performed as advertised.

A Class 6 SDHC is rated to perform that well. The sandisk cards normally perform well. I haven't come across any specific brand that performs poorly. But, sometimes manufacturers make changes that affect the cards so that they don't perform as advertised.

I have a PNY Optima that works well. I've had some experience with Kingston and ATP SDHC cards as well.

But, any class 6 SDHC card should be able to playback 20Mbps files. I don't know if you have enough time to test more than one brand.

    Hi Dan,

We recently ran a trail on the HD1010's using 1080i content on the Sandisk Extreme III's. No problems at all with playback. Here is the exact one we used :
