HD810 - best HD format for the player (h264 or mp4)

Hi! I have tried different format like mpg for blueray, h264 and mp4 and are nog quite satisfied with the result. The image quality is great, but the motion stutter / not smooth. Is this characteristic for the player or is it possible to get a clean HD motion?

Best Regards / Jimmy

    This is not normal.

You should get clean HD playback on the unit.

Transport streams play best, whether they are mpeg2 or h.264.

What resolution are you outputting on your screen, and at what refresh rate?

What's the frame rate of the video you are using, and what bitrate?

If you can upload a sample of your video, please let me know. I can ask our developers to take a look at it.

Also, what flash card are you using, and what's the througput rating of the card?

Depending on which brightsign you have, we can run a test from the shell to verify what throughput the unit is seeing.

Ok! Do you have an mail address? I can put some samples on our site for you to download.

I'll soon get back with some spec about the encoding settings.

One thing that can be a problem is the frame rate.

If your video is encoded at 25fps, for example, then the video output from the brightsign has to be a multiple. So, you could use any of the video modes that support 25, 50, or 75 as the refresh rate.

If your video is 29.97 or 30fps, then ideally, your vmode would be any resolution that supported 29.97, 30, or 60 as the refresh rate.

If you have a 25fps video when using 1280x720x60p, then you'll get jerky video. The same is true of 30fps video at 1024x768x75p.
