Synchronization and NTP

I have been using BMN - SORRY MY FAULT, it is not NETWORK MANAGER BUT Brightsign Author - with no problems at all. I update the information and the HD210 players upload and display the new content perfectly. Now I have created several playlists and scheduled content, but the HD210 players have stopped to sync.

When you set up the SD cards for the first time, you do not specify the NTP address. Does the players have a default NTP address to look for? Once I have published the Network Configuration to the SD card, is it any way to change it without accessing to the SD cards?

My first presentations were full screen images only. My scheduled content has a different layout. Do I need to publish on the SD cards "manually" every time I change the layout?

UPDATED INFO: I am not using BNM but BAuthor: yes, the HD210 (x11) can reach the internet (and NTP) witout any problem as I can display a clock correctly. My concern is that BrightSign Author does not update the content on the players since I am trying to use scheduled content; it does create the content fine, and HD210 goes to the webserver (HFS), but the server does not save the content on the players. If I do it by hand, it works. I am using Simple Networking... Do I need to upgrade to the BNM in order to have scheduled content?

I am running BAuthor on a Windows XP SP2 PC.

Thanks in advance for your support.

We currently look at time.rokulabs.com for the NTP server by default. you can change this using a script.

Currently, once you've setup the unit, you can't easily change the network configuration. This will change in the next BrightAuthor release for units that call into the Brightsign Network. Additionally, when we release a web server for the networked boxes, you will also be able to connect to it to change settings.

When changing layouts, you can publish the updated project to the web folder you've setup the Brightsigns to check for new content.

If updates aren't ocurring using simple networking, we need to verify if the problem is with the download itself from the server. A couple things to check:

    1. In BrightAuthor, the URL that the units are checking for updates should be under Edit-Preferences-networking. This makes sure any new projects use the same settings. And, also under File-SignProperties-Networking. This is the setting for your current project.

    2. To do the initial download, you go to file, sign properties, networking, and choose Publish Network Setup files. Put those on a flash card, and bootup the unit with just that card. Then, publish your actual project to the web folder. If that's what's failing, open the autorun.brs text file on the flash card, and set loggingon to TRUE. Then when it fails next time, a log.txt file will be created on the flash card that will test us why it's failing.

If the files are actually downloading to the player, but the unit never restarts with the content, then please try running the 3.2 beta firmware, and confirm if the problem still exists.
