Transition time between slides

Hello, We have an interactive display that displays a sequence of .BMP images, and controls an external pump ,in response to a switch. We are using Transition 15, the cross fade between slides. We are using a simple playlist to do this, and it works fine, except the crossfade is quite fast, only a second or two. Is there a way to adjust the transition time? We would like around 5 seconds. I think we did this before, but can't find the answer in the files here or in my files. I think it was a change in the AUTORUN.BRS file. Thanks, -Mac

    We do not have speed controls currently any of the transitions.

    Sorry to kick this topic back up..

    But isn't it possible by now to change transition time when you use "Fade to new image"? A client is complaining about the slow transition and I'm afraid he will cancel the deal if such basic functionality doesn't work...
    Up to a certain point I have to agree with him. There is some basic functionality missing in the devices that keep it from being a superb product and making selling and implementing these products one of my core businesses.

    Another thing regarding the transition (fade), it doesn't go that smooth, it appears it fades in a lot of steps instead of a smooth curve.
    The images used are normal jpg's, 1920x1080, 24 bit color, 72 dpi. Files are roughly 275 kb. Does the chosen jpg compression influence the smoothness of the fade btw?

    Fortunately, support on this forum is excellent. My compliments Lyndon.

    Is the customer generating their own content?

    You are correct that the image playback features aren't as flexible as we would like. Unfortunately, there isn't likely to be a solution to this problem on the current platform. Larger files aren't processed as efficiently.  The fastest image type is an 8-bit rle encoded bitmap. IN general bitmaps will be processed faster than other image types.

    So, you can change to a transition to works better on larger images, also. But, there's no control over the transition time.

    In this case the customer is a graphic designer who indeed designs his own slides.
    Well, for now I can convince him to stick with the HD210 with other more important features than the transition time.

    But in general, some features should be a bit more user focussed. Like the live text function. The user interface for this part is rather limited.
    Why not set a font size in px or pt? Now you have to kind of gues what will come out after publishing.

    Such small changes would make the brightsign platform an outstanding product, a no-brainer.
    But I'm confident we'll see of lot of improvements in the near future!

    Hi, it's been a few years since this comment was posted, and hoping you've added! We need to increase the duration of the simplest fade transition to 5 seconds. I'm on the latest firmware and BrightSign author release, but not finding a setting -- seems crazy to have generate a video of slides just to achieve this, even if not in the standard menus, is there a direct hack we could make to a settings file?

    Hi Bill,

    There is no setting in BA to adjust the duration of the transition effects. However, it might be possible to write a plugin to do this. You can read more about plugins here:

    This plugin will not work with images that are added to a non-interactive playlist in presentation. It must be an interactive playlist, and images must be inside the Image List widget.

    If you get rid of the parser and datafeed in the presentation you should be able to use the plugin by just creating the Image List object with files from your media library. Please note that you must only use pictures in your project for this to work.

    Very helpful -- may be able to make do in this case with the default, but this is good to have as an option.

    Bill, this functionality is coming. In brightauthor 4.x, posted for 4k players you can set the duration of transitions. There will be a 4.x release for other units HD20 series and XD players in a few weeks. Then the functionality will be available for all players.

    1. brightsign XD 1132 only plays one content/ad on playlist and doesn't play the rest in a single layout .what could be the issue
    2. this file.. autoran.bars for the USB modem fails to work on the same player

    Did this ever get fixed?

    We were using the default setting on our HD1023 which was no transition with only 6 seconds per image. When I tried to update it in preferences to 15 seconds per image and a 1.0 second transition to fade into new image, it ignored my remote access command updates. We never had this issue before, until now. It seems that nothing that I do to change the transitioning will work. Does this mean there is something with the MicroSD card or is there another way to force it to comply to a different timing?
