BrightSign HD410 Sync (gpio)

Greetings All. I would like to know of t is possible to Network 3 BrightSign HD410 units together which will play the same file through 3 projectors. eg. 3 BrightSign HD410 and 3 projectors resulting in one panoramic image.

    They can't be networked because there's no networking port...

    If you haven't bought them yet, I would recommend HD210s because it's easier to synchronize them over ethernet. That is, unless you need one of the input options the HD410 gives you.


    You can synchronize HD410s over GPIO, but but you need make a custom cable to connect the units together over gpio. How many files are you synchronizing on the three players?

    I also have the same issue - I have to synchronize 3 HD410 units for a slideshow. Are there any instructions on how to do that - (a) physical connection of the units and (b)software side.

    Here are sample scripts for synchronizing one video over GPIO, and another for synchronizing two videos over GPIO.

    Here's a general cable diagram showing how you can wire a master to slave units using gpio.

    So, correct me if I am wrong, the code has to be written and brightauthor software can not be used in this case? Which makes it very hard in mycase.

    Anyhow - I did no give up and modied the 1videoGPIO code referred here (actually 2 changes 1-videofile name 2-screen resolution).  Had to figure out based on the code which button is it programmed for and matched the sync cable to the code based on 15pin connector pinout table from a manual (it was pin 15-to pin15 and pin 14 to pin 14) for button 0.
    So it started to work - sort of..

    First run video is in sync. Well, actually 0,x secs of sync - can this be corrected? What's the reason?
    Second run - no video on the slave! And this happens every other loop. Why is that?

    Given I would need a synced slideshow of images looping - does that mean I can only sync 8 images which equals to the number of button inputs?

    Can you send me the script once you've changed it, and a detailed description of what it is you want to synchronize. You can email me at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:support@brightsign.biz">support@brightsign.biz</a><!-- e -->. I can make changes to the script, and I'll post an update here.

    You could use BrightAuthor to send a gpio on signal before you play a file on the master, and have the slave listen for that button press. The problem is that you can't use this method to have the slave and master preload a file before playing. The problem is without the signal to preload your videos and images might be out of sync. With the script, you can use gpio to send preload signals because you have more control.

    In BrightAuthor, the actual synchronize command is reserved from connections over ethernet, and when used, it sends a preload signal before the play signal. So, you get improved synchronization.

    hello!
    i have to sync 3 HD410 playing 1 video  and loop it. the player are just powered up in the morning til they are powered off about 10 hrs later. i learned, that i have to produce this special GPIO-cable. what else i got to do? unforunately (like always) there is no time for me to experiment and play around <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    Sample GPIO Sync Cable for multiple units

    This cable will handle more than just two units. The hardware manual also has pinouts for the gpio port.

    If it's just two units, you could also just use a null modem serial cable to connect the two together, and the signaling could be sent over serial.

    your cabling scheme is for push-button action. in my project there will be no button. it's on- off powered by timer. i know about autoplay function after poweron and boot. but i assume this will not work for 3 players simultaneously for let's say 10hrs.
    in a project in the past i noticed that it took one of two players more time to be ready (it did not matter then, cos it was push button in a museum). so how to handle it in my new application? the videos have to loop in sync. by now i don't know the exact duration of the content.
    could you futher advise?

    The cabling is the same, if you're using gpio.

    WHen the brightsign sends a gpio on signal, the slaves receive it like a button press. So, it doesn't matter if you're not actually using any button inputs on the master. The slaves see the signal from the master as a button push.

    So, the script can be modified so that the gpio signals are sent on the video end. How many videos are looping on the master, and it's just one loop over and over again?

    good morning!

    it's 3 times the "same" video, actually different in content, but exactly from same length, forming one "big" panorama (videowall-style). every part of it (right/mid/left) has to have the same name, right? is there a chance to have the hd410 playing in sync with the master/slave scripts?

    how are you today?
    by now , i have hooked up everything, copied the sd-cards. but only the master loops it's file. i used the autorun.brs for master and slave accordingly. i just changed the videofile name
    i contacted mr. lohse jun. from syscomtec germany for advise, but unfortunately he's not in the office and did not call me back until now.

    what do i have to alter in the autoruns that there is a "quasi"- push-button signal for the slaves? we produced a cable acc to your pdf: 1 scotch 1 bourbon and 6 beer <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> i mean 1 Master 1 video 6 slaves just connected master to 2 slaves. is that ok?

    pls help, time schedule gets tight...

    Hello.

     

    I know a few years have gone by, but I am trying to sync 2 x HD 410's together, so 1 master and 1 slave. Each Brightsign player will be looping 1 video each. The videos are not the same, but are the same length.

    I have copied the video files onto SD cards, and also copied onto each SD card the appropriate script for master and slave. I opened these files with notepad and changed the file name from "video.ts" to match the name of the file on the card. I also changed the video size in the scripts to match the source video file.

    I made up the lead to go between GPIO ports using the wiring diagram linked in this thread.

    I booted up the players, and they both load, but only the master plays and loops. The slave shows only a black screen.

    So I am looking for guidance. I don't know if it is the scripts or the lead. I was confused about the switch attached to the 2 pins on the master side. I dont want it to be triggered by a switch, but instead to be automatic at power on. So I have tried the lead with those 2 wires joined, and without, but the result was the same.

    I would greatly appreciate any help.
