Stuck on video conversion, offering 0 consulting fee

I am really stuck. I have a BrightSign HD410 video player. I need to finish up a project for a customer this Sunday, October 3, 2010, but I cannot find a way to get my HD video converted into a format that BrightSign will recognize. I will pay a $50 consulting fee, via PayPal, to the first person who can tell me the exact steps on a Windows Vista computer I can use to convert the video below into a 1920x1080 format that the BrightSign HD410 will recognize, both for video and audio. This is not a scam or a joke or an advertisement, and I'm not trying to offend anyone by offering a consulting fee. I'm just really stuck, I'm under a very tight deadline, and I know that it will take someone some time to try, test, and provide a careful step-by-step explanation, so I want to compensate you for your time. I am willing to buy whatever software I need to make this work, please just tell me what Windows software to buy and exactly what steps to take. I have very carefully read the BrightSign Video Quality tech note multiple times. I have read the FAQs, and I have read the messages in the BrightSign Forum. I have tried many different video conversion software packages that have been recommended here and elsewhere: tsMuxeR, Streamclip, imTOO Video Converter, and others. I have worked this problem for 10 hours so far, trying countless variations and possibilities, but I am not able to convert my 1920x1080 video into a video file where both the video and audio play successfully on the BrightSign HD410. The sample videos that Roku has posted work fine on my HD410. My HD410 is working fine, I just can't convert my HD video into a format the HD410 will successfully play. I have posted my problem video file to http://www.illusionator.com/brightsign, and you can download it from there. The above video (a short "pirate" animation) is the first few seconds of a larger video that I need to convert. This is also a video format I work with a lot. So by you helping me find the series of steps to convert this video, you will be helping convert many other similar videos in the future. I need to preserve the 1920x1080 resolution, and I need to convert the audio as well. The above "sample.mpg" will not play in the BrightSign HD410 as-is. It is a 1920x1080 video at 29.97 fps. The video encoding is MPEG-2, and the audio is Dolby Digital. I know that this particular combination of video/audio is not supported by BrightSign (particularly because of the Dolby Digital audio track), and I know the the video needs to be converted, but I can't find a way to convert it using my Windows computer so that it will work in the BrightSign HD410, in 1920x1080 resolution, with the audio working also. What I'm really looking for is step-by-step instructions on Windows, that work correctly on the above sample video file. I'm not looking for advice like "try tsMuxeR" or "be sure to convert to H.264 and put into a .TS container, not a .MOV container." I've read this advice over and over, and I worked on this problem literally all day yesterday. I'm also pretty technically savvy, and I've been doing video editing and using solid-state video players with my customers for years. But this is my first time trying to use the BrightSign product, and I'm really stuck. I am looking for instructions like: "I used the following procedure on Windows to convert your sample.mpg file into a 1920x1080 format with audio that the BrightSign HD410 will play back. First, with tsMuxeR v1.10.46, double-click on tsMuxerGUI.exe. Click on the 'add' button, and browse to the 'sample.mpg' file, then..." Or whatever. Again, I'm happy to purchase any software to make this work, but I need a tested, detailed procedure that someone has used to successfully convert my "sample.mpg" file, above, into a format that the BrightSign HD410 will play back, and they have actually tested the result on the HD410 to make sure both the video and audio work fine. If someone could help me with this, I would be extremely grateful! In addition to paying the $50 consulting fee to the first person who can provide me with these detailed instructions, I will also post the instructions here on the Forum, so that other people can benefit from this information as well. I've seen a lot of advice and technical information, in the BrightSign video quality tech note, the FAQ's, and here on the Forum, but I have not seen a step-by-step procedure that will help me convert the "sample.mpg" video file above. If someone is able to find and test and carefully document a series of steps for me on Windows, please email the answer to video@illusionator.com. I will test them out, and for the first person who sends me a working solution, I will send the $50 consulting fee via PayPal. And you will have my extreme gratitude! I have to be out of town today (Friday, Oct. 1, 2010) on a business trip, but I will be back tomorrow evening, and I will check my email then, to see if anyone has found a solution. I am really stuck on this. Again, please email the answer to video@illusionator.com. THANK YOU, in advance, for anyone who can help! -- Randy Forgaard Illusionator, Inc.

I'm sorry you've had such problems getting this done. I'm not sure what program you were using to re-encode the video. I'm sure you could use something like Super, a front end for ffmpeg. I did a quick test with womble's mpeg-vcr. It's a small utility that you can download a 30-day trial of. I opened your video, select mpeg2-program stream, and then hit save. That was enough to make your clip play on the brightsign.

I made a little video of the process and I'll post a link here as soon as expression is done encoding it. The video should be finished uploading in about 8 minutes.

Here's what your original video looked like, specs, in media player classic. You'll see the mpeg format is BDAV.  But, further down, the results from the new file is mpeg-ps. The new file plays.

This is wonderful, thank you.  I have to run to catch a plane, but I will test out your process as soon as I return tomorrow night.  I incredibly appreciate the super fast response.  Huzzah, Roku!
