HD810/1080p audio problem

so i recently received a video file from a client w/ the following specs: 1920 x 1080, 23.98fps, H.264, AAC audio @ 44khz i put it into a .ts container using tsmuxer and loaded it onto my SD card w/ a playlist that is forcing 1920x1080,60i so that it plays out of the component output of the player. the video seems to play fine, but the audio only plays for the first couple seconds then drops out. it comes back when it loops, but again only for a couple seconds. is there anything i'm doing wrong or an easy fix to this? thanx, _j

It could be an encoding problem, but please try updating to this firmware.

Just unzip it, copy the update.rok file to a flash card, and powerup the unit with the card.

i updated the brightsign, but same problem. do you think it's an encoding problem or .ts containerizing problem?

two other questions:
if i'm using quicktime pro to extract the video and audio files from my h.264 .mov file, should i also be selecting the timecode track when i do so?

and in tsmuxer, which checkboxes should be selected or not selected before muxing the extracted file to a .ts file?

thanks again

Is it possible to upload the original file and your problem file to our ftp server? can you list exactly the process you use to get the h.264 file?

i'm happy to upload the files if you instruct me on how to do so.

the original H.264 file was sent to us from the client/artist we are working with, so i'm not sure how it was made. my guess is it was exported from either After Effects or Final Cut Pro on a Mac.

i can tell you this though:

the original file has the following specs:

Format: H.264, 1920x1080, Millions
AAC, 2 channels, 44100 Hz
FPS: 23.98
Data Size: 588.1MB
Data Rate: 77.79 mbit/s

following directions i've read on this forum, i used QuickTime Player 7 (Pro), go to Show Movie Properties, then select the video and audio track (not the timecode track or the unnamed track) and hit Extract, and then save the new file w/ a different file name.

that resulting file also appears to play fine in QuickTime.

also following the directions read here, i then add that new file to tsMuxer.
i have the following checkboxes checked:
- add picture timing info
- continually insert SPS/PPS

the muxed .ts file that is created will play fine (video and audio) for the first 5 seconds or so in VLC player and then will freeze on a video frame and the audio will stop playing, though the time marker will continue to more through the timeline. on the bright sign, the video will play fine but the audio will only play for the first second of each loop.

any ideas of what's going wrong?

That bitrate is much too high.
We don't recommend going above 35mbps, with 25mbps being the ideal # we suggest. That high a bitrate would be a problem for the card and the player.

sorry, that should have been a lower case m, as in millibit (mbit), not megabit (Mbit)

so i requested another file from the client/artist, this time w/ mp3 audio (as opposed to AAC) and took the same steps to put it into a .ts container (quoted below), but this time when i loaded the file onto the brightsign, i got no audio at all. when i check the data rate of the original file it says it is only 77.65 mbits/s (that's a lower case m), so it shouldn't be a problem, right?

is there anything i'm missing or doing wrong?

There's no such thing as a lower case m. It's megabit, and it's too high. Playing such a file causes all kinds of problems. H.264 is fine with aac audio, but the bitrate's too high.

You can upload here:

FTP Directions:
----------------

Enter this site in Internet Explorer or ftp software:

1. ftp://www.rokulabs.com
