Switch, Router or Hub?

Hi, I'm going to be syncing HD210's together. I've done this in the past with routers. I assume a switch is the best (as it is more efficient than a hub and doesn't include a firewall and other unnecessary software that is found on a router)? It's been some time since I used a switch. Will it have a web based panel that I can log into? If not, how do I determine it's IP? In short, what do I need to do with a switch to get it to sync with another HD210?

You just need to manually set the IP address on he brightsign. You can do this using a standalone setup with brightauthor 2.2.

Can't I also do this via a script?

Yes, there's a thread on the forum with a script to manually set the IP address.

OK, that is the way I prefer. Thanks RokuLyndon. Sorry for being a bit duh with switches, but how does one get the IP or give an IP to a switch?

I'm not sure what you mean.

All you need to do is set the IP on the brightsigns. I"m assuming the simple switch you're using doesn't require any special configuration, no more than a hub would. Just use the script to manually set the IP address of the master unit and you should be done.

If the switch doesn't have its own IP how does the BrightSign see it? Aren't I just choosing some random IP number then on the BrightSign that has no correspondence with anything?

For instance, with a router I can login via a web panel and set the router's IP. Then I would include that IP in the BrightSign script. How do I find the switch's IP?

Whoops, it's just occurred to me that the switch IP doesn't matter. It is only the BrightSign IP that matters (and gets added to the script). So, ignore my stupidity on this.
