IP address display

Has anybody written a simple script that would display on screen the current IP address that the Brightsign has been allocated when using DHCP. It would be a neat utility for de-bugging installations.

With my HD210, if you boot the device without a sd card inserted, it will display a flash screen with brightsign logo, serial nummer and assigned ip adres. I think even a IPv6 address behind it.

Is that correct, Lyndon, does it support IPv6?

If you're running firmware version 3.5.77 or later, the ip address will be displayed on the screen when you startup without an sd card. The only exception to this is if your unit is configured to call into a brighsign network account, the unit will think it needs to go into recovery if you start it up with no flash card.

You can also run this network diag script, if you have firmware version 3.5.77 or newer.

Also, this script will set your unit to dhcp, and display IP info on the screen.

If you enabled the diagnostic web server when you setup the unit, and you have Bonjour (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999) installed on your computer, you can type the following in a web browser replacing "serialnumber" with the actual serial number of your unit.

    http://brightsign-serialnumber.local/

This will bring up the diag server page where you can get the unit ip address under network diagnostics.

If you power up the unit with no sd card, the IP address is listed on the screen.

If you have access to the router, you can log in, and see what IP address is assigned to the entry with the brightsign's mac address (also can be seen on screen, or on the bottom of the unit).

You can publish a presentation with the LiveText object and set the LiveText to display a system variable in a zone on the screen (that system variable can be the ip address of your player).
