HD1010 Serial Commands to power on projector

I've been trying to get the Roku to power on the projector for the past day and a half. I think it's because I'm not getting the carriage return to work but not sure. I have an Epson Powerlight 96w projector. I have been successful at connecting the projector to my laptop, running hyperterminal and powering on/off the projector. According to Epson's command users guide only 3 pins are used in the cable. 3-2 for transmitted data from PC to projector, 2-3 is received data from PC to projector and 5 is ground. It should be sending 9600bps, N,8,1 None for flow control. I just want to have the projector power on prior to the video playing. Below is what I've tried and doesn't work. Video plays fine but the projector doesn't come on. I tried the : before pwr on (according to Epson docs) and it didn't work either. After testing it in hyperterminal it looks like you don't need it. 1. Send Serial String (EOL) - PWR ON (Doesn't matter if it's caps or not) 2. Send Serial String (EOL) - PWR ON (Doesn't matter if it's caps or not) Send serial byte - 13 (took me a bit to figure out 13 was for carriage return) 3. Send serial byte - 13 Send Serial String (EOL) - PWR ON (Doesn't matter if it's caps or not) Send serial byte - 13 Any idea that I haven't tried to help me? Thanks, Alan

    Alan,

you didn't say in your post what values you use on in hyperterminal that work.

    Lyndon,
In Hyperterminal I use PWR ON and then press enter and the projector turns on.  I tried it with lower case or upper case and it works both ways.

    Thanks,

can you send me your brightauthor project file? When you set the port settings for the project, did you set them under file, presentation properties. Or, under edit preferences? With brightauthor versions prior to 2.3, there are two places you can cnfigure this. One is for global settings only and doesn't affect current projects. The other, presentation properties, is for the current project.

    Lyndon,
I didn't even think of checking the settings for the serial port in brightsign.  I checked them and then tried the command without the send byte 13 and it works!  I think I confused myself with the port too thinking it meant which pin for transmitting the data.  I changed the port back to 0 and changed the baud rate to 9600 in brightsign and that seems to have fixed my problem.  User error sorry about that.

    Lyndon,
I was just trying to schedule a time to power on the projector and then time to power off the projector.  I noticed you had commented on another post that if you are using a HD1010 you can't schedule anything because it doesn't have a real time clock.  Is this still true and if so are there any firmware updates in the future that will have this capability?

    Thanks,
    Alan

CUrrent 1010s have a realtime clock. if your serial # starts with an A you have the RTC.

I have the HD220's and was planning on sending commands to the projectors to turn on and off at specific times over the ethernet. Will that work with an HD220 and a Christie DHD800?

Lyndon, and all.  Same topic, I'm trying to send (PWR1) to a Christie GS-599.  It says, "Connect pin 2 to pin 3, Pin 3 to 2, and 5 to 5.  How do I address this on an XD1033?

You need a 3.5mm stereo (TRS) to DB9 (female?) adapter.  Tip to pin 3, ring to pin 2 and sleeve to pin 5 ground.  You can buy (Amazon) a version that is tip to pin 2, ring to pin 3, and sleeve to pin 5 and then add a null-modem adapter.
