Help! BrightSign HD2000 - choppy video and freezing

I am having problems with an MPEG2 720p video playing from a new Lexar 300x 8 Gb Compact Flash card. There seem to be occasional dropped frames and after approximately 2.5 hours of looping, the video freezes and goes to black. Then after a few seconds it restarts by itself.

We are using a brand new Sharp Aquos 32" HD 1920x1080 LCD display LC-32D62U, connected via HDMI.

Is the HD2000 generally not optimized to display full-motion video using MPEG2 at 720p? Is it better at just SD or still images?

    The HD2000 is designed to playback High Definition video, up to 25mbps at 1080i.



    When you say occasional dropped frames, do you see this every time the video plays, but in different locations? How often are you seeing dropped frames? What bitrate is your video?



    Is it possible for you to upload a clip of your HDvideo to our ftp site? If yes, I will send you ftp directions.



    If you startup your HD2000 without the flash card inserted, what software version does it say it's running?

    I thought the documentation said it can only play files up to 720p, but it that the image gets scaled up and displayed at 1080i.  Please clarify.

    Our video is between 20-25 Mbps, 30 frames per second, exported as an HD DVD .EVO file from DVD Studio Pro. We renamed the file to "autoplay.VOB" as per the instructions.



    The 'dropped frames' term might be a misnomer, but what we actually see is that there is a slight pause for a fraction of a second at different times in the video. It is somewhat similar to playing an internet video that does not load fast enough. The 'pausing' happens once every approximately 8-10 seconds or so.



    In addition, we've also noticed a separate condition where the video image breaks up for a fraction of a second, similar to when you get a bad  section of tape in Mini DV. The image breaks up and you see artifacts in all the high-contrast areas. In our case, there are large white text-graphics that scroll horizontally across the screen, over sepia-tone photos. The big white text is mainly what 'breaks up'. This also happens at different times, intermittently.

    We just put it back in the box and have to return it. We got it about 3 weeks ago and did not upgrade the software. We used whatever software it shipped with. Sorry, we did not make a note of the software version. is there a known issue with older software that does not play HD MPEG2 properly?



    We would still like to know more about why we experienced this since we do appreciate the affordability of your HD2000 player, in light of its capabilities. If only we can iron out the kinks.
