1920x1080 Video Codecs / Bitrates / Settings

Is there someone out in this world using 1920x1080 video and is satisfied with the quality and the storage space required? I would like to know what Codec should be good for MPEG2, what bitrate, GOP (Group Of Picture), single or double pass and so on? I am actually working on a synced multi HD solution using HD1010 and HD210 units. The results are pretty good but the storage space should be downsized. Are there some options with MPEG4 / H.264 or what? I would be grateful for a hint...

    You can use h.264 transport streams with the 210 and 1010. Program stream support hasn't been released yet (.mov and .mp4), but that's coming soon.
