RFID Triggering

For an upcoming exhibit we want to use rfid tags to trigger different audio and/or video content.

Scenario:
- Exhibit visitor enters and receives a free rfid tag in form of a key chain or similar based on the preferred language (for now Swedish or English)
- At each exhbit table/module there will be up to 5 texts in Swedish
- The visitor holds the tag to the text and the printed text will be read back in a headphone (in the respective language)
- The tag can also be used to trigger a movie in the respective language

Has anyone done this with the Brightsign units?
I imagine one could use rfid triggered momentary relays.
For 5 texts this would mean 5 rfid triggers and 10 separate audio files on the Brightsign.

Does anyone know of readyliy available rfid technology that would work for this? I know Heddier make this for their players, but the tags are too expensive for give aways. http://www.heddier.com/electronic/

Hej Ozz, did you have any luck since 2009 on that issue? I also would like to do something similar in a danish exhibition.

Yes, HMS Electronics in California made rfid circuit boards for us that work with up to 15 readers per HD410, together with reader modules from Heddier. IT has been very stable. Parts of The Exhibition still lives on, but some has been dismantled and we have some rfid equipment that might be for sale if you're interested. If you only need 1 reader per player you can get a USB rfid reader with keyboard simulation, that probably the easiest solution.

Hej Ozz, many thanks for the quick and good response. I found this reader, you think that would work with a brightsign box?

Should work fine I guess. It's HID keyboard emulating.

I've only tried Elatec TWN3 with Mifare and it's been fine.
